Home Child-Care Provider Pilot and Home Support Worker Pilot Programs

This is a Permanent Residency program for those caregivers who have 24 months of Canadian experience in child-care or home support. Those who are not in Canada or do not have Canadian experience can also qualify if they can prove they can work in one of the two professions through their previous work experience and/or education.

This is an employer-supported program wherein employer shows that they need your services, can hire the worker, and can fulfill their responsibilities. The yearly target is 2750 applications in each profession and employees can live in the employer’s home. This is a permanent residency program rather than a work permit program wherein the permanent residency application is filed together with the work permit application if the applicant does not have qualifying 24 months of Canadian work experience. The worker gets a three-year work permit during which they need to obtain a two-year work experience and submit it to the government. The worker’s family will also be offered open work permit or study permit. After verification of the experience, permanent residency is granted.
