Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot Program

It is a community-supported program wherein the community supports your PR application. There are certain IRCC and certain community requirements, which the candidate has to fulfill. You need to have either at least one year of continuous work experience in the community, which is recommending your application, or have completed minimum of two years of education in the same community.

You need to have spent at least 16 months out of the last 24 months in the community while studying. If you have completed a master's or higher-level program, you need to be in the community for the entire length of the program. The degree or diploma should have been awarded within the last 18 months of application.

Language requirements are CLB level 6 for NOC level O and A; CLB level 5 for NOC level B, and CLB 4 for NOC C and D.

No settlement funds are needed if you are already working in the community.

    Each community can have additional requirements which are specific to that community. The following communities have this program running at present:
  • Sudbury, ON

  • Timmins, ON

  • Sault Ste. Marie, ON

  • Thunder Bay, ON

  • Thunder Bay, ON

  • Altona/Rhineland, MB

  • Claresholm, AB

  • Vernon, BC

  • West Kootenay (Trail, Castlegar, Rossland, Nelson), BC


    And eligible occupations are –
  • NOC B 6331 – Retail butchers

  • NOC C 9462 – Industrial butchers

  • NOC B 8252 – Farm supervisors and specialized livestock workers

  • NOC D 9617 – Food processing laborers

  • NOC B 8252 – Farm supervisors and specialized livestock workers

  • NOC C 8431 – General farm workers

  • NOC D 8611 – Harvesting laborers

  • NOC B 8252 – Farm supervisors and specialized livestock workers

  • NOC C 8431 – General farmworkers
